Island View Riding Stables is a family-run horse farm in the West of Ireland specialises in beach rides in Sligo and Donegal Bay. Drop in for a refreshing horse-riding experience on your journey along the Wild Atlantic Way.
Trekking options range from a 30 minute lead rein trek for young children, a 1 hour beach ride or a 2 hour hack right up to a full day trail ride. Even beginners can enjoy a gentle stroll along the sea shore.
All equestrian activities are supervised by qualified guides.
Individual & Group Trekking
We have horses to suit every type of rider big or small, experienced or novice, child or adult. We specialise in beach rides and even inexperienced riders can enjoy our beach treks and stunning views of Donegal Bay.
Groups with varying riding experience will be accommodated so everybody can ride at a pace they enjoy. For mixed ability groups or beginners, the 1 hour beach ride is ideal. The 2 hour beach and bog-land ride is also "do-able" for beginners.
We are offering the 1 Hour Beach Ride on Trawalua Beach.
1 Hour Beach Ride
Our most popular ride, suitable for all levels of horse riders. Trawalua beach is accessible for beach riding all day.
Take a stroll along the seashore between the dunes and the rolling waves. Enjoy the unspoilt views of Donegal Bay and Classiebawn Castle in Mullaghmore on horseback.
You don’t need to be able to ride to enjoy the experience. Beginners will be brought at a leisurely walk. Experienced riders will enjoy the thrill of a canter or gallop along the golden sandy beach.
With a bit of luck you will see seals and wild geese!
Our strength is that we offer a safe, enjoyable equestrian activity all year round. With so many horses and ponies to choose from, Island View Riding Stables can accommodate riding groups of all ages and abilities (e.g. family gatherings, hen parties, stag parties, students, riding clubs, corporate events, team building and staff outings, active age groups, Christmas parties, special needs groups, birthday parties of all ages).
Riders with different levels of experience will be accompanied by at least two guides. This means the group can split up for some of the hack, allowing the experienced riders to go for a canter with one guide whilst the second guide stays with the less experienced party. We make sure everybody enjoys their trek and feels comfortable with the pace of the ride. If necessary, small children or beginner riders can be taken on a lead rein. All riding activities take place outdoors. All rides are guided.
We supply riding hats, hat liners and boots. Riders should wear sensible outdoor clothing and comfortable trousers.
